The 2018 RAM 1500

Gastonia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram has a great selection of 2018 RAM 1500 models

If you're in the market for a light duty pickup truck then the 2018 RAM 1500 is a model you need to have on your radar. At Gastonia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram we have a fine selection to choose from, and they're a great option for first time truck buyers or those well-versed in the truck world.

Today we'll get you up to speed on what you can expect to find for the 2018 model year. We'll look at engine specs, general technology and amenities, and dive into the trim lineup so you can see which options could best fit your needs. Once you're ready to take the next steps, stop into our Gastonia, NC dealership for a test drive!

Choosing your performance and capability needs

It's no secret that shopping for most trucks isn't as straightforward as shopping for a car or SUV. Instead of just having to decide which trim level or packages you want, you also need to consider the bed length, cab style, and engine size. All those choices play off each other! If you come into our dealership from Charlotte feeling a little confused don't worry; we're here to help you out.

The Engine Lineup
  • 3.6L V6: 305 horsepower/269 lb-ft of torque
  • 3.0L EcoDiesel V6: 240 horsepower/420 lb-ft of torque
  • 5.7L HEMI® V8: 395 horsepower/410 lb-ft of torque
Cab Style & Bed Length
  • Crew Cab: 5'7" or 6'4"
  • Quad Cab: 6'4"
  • Regular Cab: 6'4" or 8'

Now, what RAM 1500 setup do you want to drive around Lincolnton?

Choosing the amenities you want to come along for the ride

Power and capability are obviously important for the truck buyer, but that doesn't mean we should ignore interior features that make driving more convenient and enjoyable. Some of the technology you'll find includes a Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system, parking sensors (perfect for snagging a spot around downtown Rock Hill), LED lighting for the truck bed and interior, a customizable driver information cluster, and the self-leveling air suspension, to name a few highlights. Aesthetic amenities we like are the premium leather seats, ample chrome accents, real-wood trim, and a 10-speaker audio system for really blaring the tunes.

Choosing the right trim for your needs and budget

Now that we've given a general overview of the 2018 RAM 1500 we'll look at the trims which are: Tradesman, Express, Big Horn, Rebel, Sport, Night, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited. We're proud to carry all options and even some special edition models.

The most popular ones at our dealership are the Express, Big Horn, and Laramie. The placement of these three serves shoppers with varying budgets and/or needs for their pickup. For simplicity's sake, we'll focus on those three, as well as the base trim and the top trim.

The Tradesman trim, as the name suggest, is the option for the jobsite. It's barebones and eschews flash, but for some drivers that's exactly what they want. You'll have a spray-in bedliner, Class IV hitch receiver, cruise control,

and the 3.6L V6 engine. With the Express you'll get the most choices between configuring the cab style and bed length, as well as 20-inch wheels and a monochromatic bumper.

At the Big Horn level, you'll get a few more creature comforts. There's a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 8.4-inch touchscreen, and upgraded cloth seats. We also love the 110-volt outlet for charging equipment and the ParkSense® front and rear park assist.

The Laramie is where one moves into the luxury truck category. There's leather-trimmed seats that have memory setting, a new chrome grille design, and wood-trim that will always be a conversation starter. The Limited is easily one of the flashiest ways to drive around Fort Mill. As the top trim for the RAM 1500 you'll get premium leather seats, a 7-inch customizable driver information cluster, and helpful side-step bars. The Limited isn't just a looker, though. You'll also have the beefy 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine and RamBox® cargo management system for serious work.
