It has a revamped line-up and offers some exciting new features that will be sure to keep many light-duty truck enthusiasts talking for years to come. But what are these changes, and more importantly, how do these changes impact you? Well, before you get deep into the research and the details on purchasing a new model year Ram 1500 for sale, it's first important to understand what has changed, why, and how it impacts you. So, for those of you who are remotely curious about what's new for the 2025 model year and how it impacts important features like performance and handling, we will cover these features and give you a breakdown of what to expect before you seek to own one for yourself.

All New Performance Ushered in by the Hurricane

Ram is going out with the old and in with the new, and the old, in this case, are the HEMI V8 powertrains. So what are the new offerings? A series of Hurricane straight-six twin-turbocharged engines, dubbed the Hurricane SST engines. These come in the form of a standard 3.0-liter turbocharged Hurricane and a 3.0-liter high-output turbocharged Hurricane. They replace the outgoing 5.7-liter HEMI Eagle V8 and the 6.2-liter HEMI Hellcat V8. For those worried about how this changes the drivetrain, performance, and off-roading capabilities, know that the 2025 Ram 1500 is still available in rear-wheel or four-wheel drive, and it still comes packaged with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Pentastar V6 is also still available as an option for those looking for the trusty mild-hybrid as part of the Ram's offerings. The big difference is that now it's paired with the new Hurricanes. As far as performance specs go, the 3.0-liter Hurricane engines can out-perform the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 offerings. The standard turbocharged Hurricane tops out at 420 hp and 469 lb-ft of torque, a significant upgrade over the 5.7-liter HEMI's 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque. The high-output Hurricane has some of the more impressive figures, as it enables the Ram 1500 to top out at 540 hp and 521 lb-ft of torque. For those of you who cherish the Ram's high-end performance, the high-output Hurricane still delivers. The Hurricane engines are also designed to tow and trailer just like the HEMI, with a max towing capacity of 11,550 lbs and a max payload of 1,980 lbs. Where they also shine is in the fuel economy, where the Hurricane tops out at 18 MPG in the city and up to 25 MPG on the highway in rear-wheel drive, and 17 MPG in the city and up to 24 MPG on the highway in four-wheel drive. This not only makes the 2025 Ram 1500 performance-tuned and utility-ready, but it also makes it more fuel efficient, which is perfect for those looking for a good all-around pickup truck.

All-New Hands-Free Active Driving Assist System

One of the biggest selling points for a lot of newer generation vehicles is vehicle autonomy. There are generally six levels of vehicular autonomy, with level 0 being no automation and level 6 being full automation with zero human input. The all-new 2025 Ram 1500 now supports Level 2+ automated driving, which helps alleviate you from having to rely solely on your own driving skills to navigate your drive. You now have a way to let the truck's system drive for you, rivaling some of its nearest competitors. Previous to the 2024 model year, the Ram 1500 only featured common driving assists and active aids, such as lane centering, parking assistance, lane departure warnings, and automatic emergency braking. They are all great safety and security features, with more than 100 systems in total to keep Ram 1500 drivers and passengers safe on the road. However, actual automated driving was not part of that line-up, but now it is. The new Active Driving Assist and hands-free driving tool are part of an initiative by Stellantis for automobile autonomy. A close-up shows the grey and black interior in a 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten.

The All-New Ram 1500 Tungsten Trim

The Tungsten trim isn't entirely new to the Ram nameplate. The fourth-generation 2018 model year also featured a limited-edition Ram 1500 Tungsten Edition. It was a top-of-the-line, very limited luxury model for the popular full-size pickup truck, offering high-quality interior materials and lots of creature comforts. That is the exact same modus operandi that the 2025 Ram 1500 Tungsten trim adopts. Sitting at the top of the upscale trim offerings for the 2025 model year, the Tungsten comes with unique interior designs and lavish high-quality materials. After a hiatus throughout the fifth generation, those looking for a truly refined Ram 1500 will love the Tungsten. It comes with an Indigo and Sea Salt interior design with dual-textured metal accents. You have a diamond knurling suede-wrapped headliner and quilted Natura Plus leather and front passenger seats featuring heated and ventilated functionality with 24-way power adjustability. And not to be outdone by the competition, the Tungsten includes driver memory settings and even front massage seat functionality for the ultimate achievement in luxury-comfort. The Tungsten doesn't end there; it further extends its luxury elements with a crystal-effect center cap on the shifter and a 23-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system. The infotainment suite, featuring a 14.5-inch touchscreen in the center, a 10.25-inch passenger screen on the right hand side, and a 12.3-inch digital driver cluster, is buffered by the inclusion of two wireless charging pads for multiple smart devices that you can charge simultaneously. Even the exterior of the Tungsten stands out with its all new Ram badging, power tailgate, and premium LED lighting array. It's the next level in luxury for the Ram 1500, and it's all new for the 2025 model year.

The All-New Ram 1500 RHO Trim

The trim shakeup doesn't just include the all-new Tungsten luxury trim; there is also an all-new high-performance, off-road-themed Ram 1500 to replace the outgoing Ram 1500 TRX. This all-new off-road trim is called the Ram 1500 RHO, and it's paired with the all-new high-output 3.0-liter Hurricane SST. The new powertrain combined with the reinforced and high-torque rear axle with an available electronic locking differential gives the Ram 1500 RHO the capabilities to not only tow and haul like a standard utility-rich pickup but also gives it the ability to perform well both on the road and off-road. The four-wheel drive Ram 1500 RHO performance specs enable it to achieve a max top speed of 118 mph, with a 0 to 60 time of just 4.6 seconds. But the design isn't just about top speed; the forged aluminum upper and lower control arms and camber angles make the RHO one of the most capable off-road Ram 1500 models ever, with lots of available suspension travel and stability thanks to the available active-level four-corner air suspension. This enables the truck to automatically adjust to the terrain, or the driver can select from five different height settings to get the most out of the Ram 1500's performance, whether on the road or off the road. This new off-road-themed trim comes with a BorgWarner 48-13 full-time active transfer case and a low torque range of 2.64:1 for rock crawling. So, the truck has a lot of versatility in where you can take it and just how much it can endure when it comes to off-road obstacles. Even still, combined with the independent front suspension and active damping, along with the Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive performance shocks, Dana 60 full floating axle shafts, and 35-inch tires, there is no terrain that is too challenging for the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO.

All-New Interior Changes Across the Trim Line

With so many changes, it's easy to miss the fact that there have been some significant changes to the interior cabin of the new Ram 1500 as well. The entire trim line has had an interior refresh, including all-new laser-etching trim accents for the Bighorn and Lone Star, as well as all-new chevron decorative trimming and an all-new Bison Brown and Sea Salt Gray two-tone interior color scheme being available for the Laramie. But the changes don't end there, as there are still some alterations to the rest of the trim line-up. The Limited Longhorn now comes with a new Barn Wood 45 open pore real wood veneer and features a Bison Brown monochromatic interior with the aforementioned power front seats with massage capabilities. Another change is that the Limited now comes with new Black Ebony wood veneer accents and a two-tone interior material scheme. There is also a revamped layout of the dashboard to support up to almost 50 inches of digital screen real estate featuring the two touchscreens and digital display cluster.
